British superstar Elton John will give an outstanding performance on May 26 as part of the 9th Rabat Mawazine Festival, slated May 21-29, the organizing Association Maroc Cultures said on Friday.

The English singer-songwriter, composer and pianist will entertain for the first time Moroccan music-lovers at the OLM Souissi stage.

The show will be free of charge except for a space kept for ticket holders, the association said in a statement, adding that tickets will be on sale as of January 15.

The career of the music icon spans several decades. He was awarded the Grammy, the Brit, the Tony and the Oscar awards and sold over 220 million albums.

A child prodigy, Elton started playing piano at the age of four. He released early seventies his album "Your Song" and won a worldwide success. "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" remains his greatest hit.
