HM King Mohammed VI 'man of peace' Sephardi Chief Rabbi of Israel

HM King Mohammed VI is a Man of Peace, Sephardi Chief Rabbi of Israel, Shlomo Amar, said.

In an interview published in French-speaking weekly "L'Observateur du Maroc", Shlomo Amar underlined that "HM King Mohammed VI will continue to promote peace" in the Middle-East.

The Sephardi Chief Rabbi of Israel said that the Kingdom of Morocco, "a country of tolerance", is unique, as "HM the King is the Commander of the Faithful who enjoys the respect of all religious communities".

"HM King Mohammed VI has been always concerned about religions, as did his late father and grandfathers", Shlomo Amar said, adding that the Sovereign "is genuinely attached to his people".

He recalled the stand of the late King Mohammed V and his efforts to protect Jews, "many of whom found peace and stability in Morocco".

The weekly magazine also reported that the Sephardi Chief Rabbi of Israel is one of the Moroccan Jews who have always remained Moroccan even after their leaving Morocco.

As all Jews who have lived in Morocco, Shlomo Amar, very aware of the conflict in the Middle-East, acknowledged Morocco position vis-à-vis the Jewish community, notably the efforts made by HM late King Mohamed V to protect Jews, the role of HM late King Hassan II in the peace process of the Middle East and the HM King Mohamed VI efforts to establish peaceful dialogue between Palestinians and Israelis, the paper underlined.
