Morocco and Spain are working on the consolidation of their assets and the devising of a strategy which which will allow the two countries to achieve progress in their economic, industrial and trade cooperation, said Thursday in Casablanca, HM King Mohammed VI's Councillor, André Azoulay.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the first meeting on "neighborhood dialogues in a globalized world", which was organized by the Economic Circle (Spain) and the Tanja Foundation, Azoulay stressed the need for the consolidation of their respective assets of a decade with the start of economic cooperation between Morocco and Spain and the setting up of a platform to find a place in the field of services, renewable energy and agri-business.
Azoulay recalled between 2000 and 2010, Morocco and Spain's trade exchanges have doubled from 33 billion dirhams to 60 billion.
In the field of tourism, the number of Spanish visitors to Morocco has more than doubled in on decade with a threshold of a total of 700,000 tourists which will be crossed in 2010 compared to 200,000 in 2000.
The Moroccan official also noted that the number of Spanish businesses in Morocco is on the rise to reach soon on thousands.
The Councillor of HM the King called on Moroccan and Spanish businessmen to make partnerships and position themselves in the regional arena “in the complementarity of our experiences, our resources and a fair sharing of the added value generated by this new partnership.”
For Azoulay, these regional partnerships are coherent and realistic in the field of agri-business and the ambitions of Green Morocco Plan or Morocco’s Solar Plan.
Businesses are key players in the social and cultural life, he said, adding that there could never be harmony between such richnes –creating dynamic and a civil society that is cautious, indifferent and disassociated from its reality.
